Jane Smith – Rabbit Behaviorist at RCA

Hello! I’m Jane Smith, and I believe that every rabbit has a voice – even if they don’t speak in words.

If you are here, you probably know that rabbits are complex, emotional, and incredibly intelligent creatures. But they can also be confusing. I created this website to bridge the communication gap between you and your bun, helping you move from simply “owning” a rabbit to truly understanding them.

Who Am I?

I am a Rabbit Behaviorist and a long-time educator with the Rabbit Community of America (RCA). For the past 12 years, I have dedicated my career to the psychology of lagomorphs.

My journey didn’t start with easy, cuddly bunnies. It started in the trenches of animal rescue. Over the last decade, I have personally fostered and rehabilitated over 500 “difficult” rabbits. I’ve worked with the biters, the cage-guarders, and the terrified thumbers, helping them transform into affectionate, free-roam family members.

I have seen firsthand that a “bad” rabbit is usually just a misunderstood one.

My Philosophy

My approach to rabbit care is built on three simple, non-negotiable rules:

  1. Trust over Dominance: You cannot force a rabbit to love you. I teach trust-based bonding techniques that respect the prey-animal instinct.
  2. Positive Reinforcement: I am a firm advocate for clicker training and treat-based learning. Punishment doesn’t work; patience (and a little banana) does.
  3. The Free-Roam Standard: I believe the best life for a rabbit is outside the cage. My goal is to help you “bunny-proof” your life so your rabbit can live as a true part of the household.

How I Can Help You

Whether you are trying to bond a chaotic trio, fix litter box habits, or just want to know why your rabbit does that weird “binky” jump, I am here to guide you.

I don’t just share generic tips; I share 12 years of field-tested strategies to help you raise a happy, healthy, and well-behaved rabbit.

Why Trust This Site?

There is a lot of bad advice on the internet—often written by AI or content farms that have never cleaned a litter box.

I am a real person with real rabbits. Every product I recommend (from litter types to hay brands) is something I have physically used. Every behavioral tip comes from hours of sitting on the floor, waiting for a bunny to trust me.

Let’s Connect

Whether you are panicking about a funny noise your rabbit made or just want to share a photo of your bun’s latest “flop,” I’d love to hear from you.

Why Trust Us

We understand that trust has to be earned. Here’s how we pledge to be dependable:

  • All of our articles are either written or reviewed by a person who has direct experience or professional knowledge in the field of rabbit care.
  • We are explicitly indicating the origins of our information and provide links to veterinary references or highly regarded rabbit-welfare organizations when it is appropriate.
  • As for the transparency, we show it off like a badge of honor: who is behind the site, how we operate, and what our standards are.
  • We appreciate feedback and corrections. If a reader or expert identifies an area for improvement, we will make the changes and indicate the change clearly.
